Gabriel Taborin College of Davao Foundation, INC., a Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) accredited educational institution in Lasang, Davao City, has started its operation last June 18, 2001. The school is built on a 20,000 square meter lot. This is a project envisioned by the Congregation of the Brothers of the Holy Family, with Archbishop Fernando Capalla as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. It is a private catholic, non-stock, non profit school owned and managed by the Brothers of the Holy Family that offers a degree program in Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management and short term courses in Information and Communications Technology, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Electronics Technology, Health Care Services, Caregiving, and 3D Animation. New degree courses in Education, Information Technology, Business Administration, and others will be added in the near future. The school aims to develop among the students the values of self-respect, self-discipline, self-reliance, and self-reflection with God as the center, portraying love, work, unity, brotherhood and peace. The institution also aims to prepare students for relevant jobs in their chosen careers, offering them the opportunities to gain experiences in various fields of endeavor and strengthening their spiritual formation. In view of this, the Management deems it very necessary to tap private and public entities to become partners in developing and improving the total personality and livelihood of the Filipino youth. Among the best features of this institution are as follows: 1. The school provides the necessary quality education and quality skills training for students, requiring them to undergo on-the-job training and pass competency assessment or trade test in their respective fields of endeavor. 2. The school charges affordable tuition and miscellaneous fees that low income families could afford. It also offers scholarship grants to the less fortunate but deserving to acquire education. Every year about 30-35% of the total number of students receive scholarship grants from the school. 3. All programs offered by the school are duly registered and recognized by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). 4. The trainers of TESDA Programs are NC II passers and some are assessors in their field of expertise. Likewise, instructors of the degree program(s) under CHED are master's degree holders and some are still pursuing their educational enhancement in their field of expertise. 5. Classrooms as well as Laboratory Rooms are spacious enough to permit smooth flow of mobility among students and instructors, thereby providing an atmosphere of effective teaching - learning activity. 6. Laboratories are well-equiped with advanced equipments, tools and utensils to facilitate the learning process. 7. A fully air-conditioned function hall is located at the Ground Floor for conferences, trainings, seminar-workshops, lectures, social gatherings and other school activities. 8. A school dormitory is provided for female students from far-flung areas. 9. An Internet library is located at the Ground Floor which serves as a study room for the students and research room at the same time. 10. A school canteen is also located at the ground floor that caters to the nourishment needs of the whole school community, including visitors. 11. The school provides Bus service to students as they go to school and leave for home. 12. A new multipurpose spacious gym offeres ground for sports activities and performing arts. |
